     double-click on the self-extracting and self-installing
setup file and answer all prompts presented.

  2. By default, all installed files (readme.txt, help,
etc.) are copied to one of the following paths:

<bootdrive>\Program Files\Intel\Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology enterprise

<bootdrive>\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology enterprise

B. Windows Automated Installer* installation from hard drive
   or CD-ROM:

Note: This method will install the drivers for both the SAS
      RAID and SATA RAID controllers.

  1. Download the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology enterprise
setup file and double-click to self-extract and to
     begin the setup process.

  2. When the 'Welcome' window appears, click 'Next' to
     continue.

  3. When the 'Uninstallation Warning' window appears,
please read the information provided, then click 'Next'
     to continue.

  4. When 'Software License Agreement' window appears, if
you agree to these terms, click 'Yes' to continue.
Otherwise, click 'No' to cancel the installation.

  5. When the 'Readme File Information' window appears,
please read the information provided, then click
     'Next' to continue.

  6. The 'Setup Progress' window appears and displays the
actions being performed for the installation.

  7. When the Windows Automated Installer*
'Setup Is Complete' window appears, the following
      options display:

    a. Make sure any open documents are saved, select
'Yes, I want to restart my computer now.', then click
       'Finish'.

    b. Or select 'No, I want to restart later', then click
       'Finish'.

C. Driver pass-through (non-RAID) installation during Windows*
   Server 2003 Edition using the 'F6 Method'+:

Note: This procedure will install only the software
necessary for Windows* to install onto a single
pass-through (non-RAID Volume) disk and be functional.
To install the remaining software, it is necessary to
use the installation procedure outlined in Section 4.B
once Windows* has completed it's installation.

Note: If the CD/DVD device is connected to the AHCI Controller
and the AHCI Controller is in RAID Mode and the boot
device is on the SCU Controller, both 2a and 2b
below will need to be followed (i.e. two floppy disks
      are required).

  1. Obtain the necessary files by one of two methods:

    a. Download the latest Intel(R) RSTe F6 drivers from
www.intel.com and extract the contents from the
       .zip file.

    b. Extract the files from the installation package.
See Section 6.B for instructions on extracting the
       files.

  2. Create a floppy (or USB key) containing the following
     files in the root directory:

    a. The files required if loading a driver for the SATA
       RAID controller is desired:

      - iaStorA.inf
      - iaAHCI.inf
      - iaStorA.sys
      - iaahci.cat
      - iaStorF.sys
      - txtsetup.oem

    b. The files required if loading a driver for the SAS
       RAID controller is desired:

      - iaStorS.inf
      - iaStorS.sys
      - iaStorF.sys
      - iaStorS.cat
      - txtsetup.oem

  3. At the beginning of the operating system installation,
press F6 to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver:

    - When prompted, select 'S' to Specify Additional Device.

  4. When prompted, insert the media (floppy or USB key)
that was created in step 2 and press 'Enter'.

  5. At this point you should be presented with a selection
for one of the controllers listed in the Overview of
this document (Section 1) depending on your hardware
     version and configuration.

  6. Highlight the selection that is appropriate for the
hardware in your system and press 'Enter'.

  7. Press 'Enter' again to continue. Leave the floppy disk
in the system until the next reboot as the software
will need to be copied from the floppy disk again when
     setup is copying files.

+ The 'F6 Method' refers to the key sequence used during
Windows* XP or Windows* Server 2003 installation to signal
that a third party device driver needs to be loaded.

D. Driver installation during Microsoft Windows* 7, Vista*,
   or Server 2008 Installation:

Note: This procedure will install only the software
necessary for Windows* to install and be functional.
To install the remaining software, it is necessary to
use the installation procedure outlined in Section 4.B
once Windows* has completed it's installation.

  1. Extract all driver files from the installation package.
See Section 6.B for instructions on extracting the
     files.

  2. Add files listed in Section 4.C.2 to a USB key.

  3. Begin the Windows* installation, following the normal
     sequence of events.

  4. When the 'Where do you want to install Windows?' window
displays, plug in your USB key and click 'Load Driver'
at the bottom left hand side of the window.

  5. When the 'Load Driver' dialog window displays, click
     'Browse'.

  6. When the 'Open' dialog window displays, navigate to the
location of the installation files, click 'OK'.

  7. At this point, you should be presented with a selection
for one of the controllers listed in the Overview
of this document (Section 1), being dependent on your
     hardware version and configuration.

  8. Select the controller that is appropriate for the
hardware in your system and click 'Next'.

  9. Proceed with the selection of your installation disk
     and complete the Windows* installation.
